Maersk Oil Qatar and Gulf Drilling International (GDI) announced today they have signed a four year agreement for 770 million Qatari Riyal (USD $211 million), under which Maersk Oil Qatar will Qatar Petroleum and Maersk Oil Qatar have today agreed on a new plan for further development of Al Shaheen Field in Block 5, offshore Qatar. The agreement will be signed today by HE Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry of Qatar, and Mr. Thomas Thune Andersen, President and CEO of Maersk Oil at a ceremony to be held in Doha. Under the agreed terms, A.P. Møller – Maersk will receive a consideration of $4.95 billion in Total shares and Total will assume $2.5 billion of Maersk Oil’s debt.
